Traveling Tournament Team

Introduction

The KM Youth Fishing Team Traveling Tournament team is a fishing league that will compete ly against high school teams in the State of Minnesota.  This team is a great opportunity for youth anglers to learn about fishing basics, boater safety, conservation, teamwork, and is a great league to either have some fun or hone your skills for the opportunity to later fish on a competitive college fishing team.  There will be opportunities for trophies, gift card drawings, and scholarships for those participating in this league.

Cost is $250 plus the cost of the fishing jersey for the traveling league only.

If fishing the traveling league and wish to do virtual tournaments, the total cost for both is $350.

Registration costs cover traveling league and/or virtual tournament registration, liability insurance on the angler, seminars, classes, practices, and additional fun tournaments against local clubs and ourselves.  Registration also includes an opportunity to compete for an angler of the year scholarship.

Season is from May 1 through October 1, 2021

Dates and Locations for KM’s SATT traveling tournaments:

You must be going into the 9th grade thru 12th to participate in traveling tournaments

Lodging will be needed for all tournaments

June 13  Lake Minnetonka

     PREFISH June 12

June 27  Le Homme Dieu Chain of Lakes

     PREFISH June 26

July 18  Whitefish Chain of Lakes

     PREFISH July 17

August 1  Mille Lacs Lake

     PREFISH July 31

Aug 15 SATT TOC Tournament on Lake Pokegama (This will be by qualification only)

August 28-29 State Team Championship on Leech Lake (We will take our three highest qualifiers within KM team)

I will work with each team and parents to book lodging in advance, this will require commitment on your part.

In addition to the above dates, pre-fishing and practice will be crucial to our success. Pre-fishing per the SATT rules must be no sooner than 10 days from the date of the tournament, which may require lodging due to the distance these lakes are from Kasson.

Practice days could be fishing a local water and can be discussed with the team in regards to the lake, date & time.

After Pre-fishing and tournaments, we will as a team discuss what worked well and what did not.

I highly encourage traveling students to help and mentor the youth league when possible.

A certified boat captain must be in boat

It is highly recommended the anglers partner up with another angler and come with their own boat captains.  If not able to find a boat captain, we have a limited amount of volunteer boat captains that MAY BE available.

This is a partnered tournament set up meaning there needs to be two anglers per team in any boat. If your partner is unable to make a tournament this will affect your team points in qualifying for the TOC and possibly State tournaments.
